How to Record the BEST Intro for Your Planner Portfolio.
In this blog we’ll review all our best tips to create the perfect Introductory video on your Planner Portfolio!

Getting Started.
Before you hit that record button, take some time to plan what you want to say in your video. A well-written script ensures your video will be concise, engaging, and aligned with your brand voice. Here are a few suggestions on what to talk about in your video:
- Your basic business information:
- Who you are
- What your business name is
- Where you are located
- What services you offer
- More about you:
- When you started working weddings
- Why you love weddings
- What makes your business unique
- Frequently Asked Questions:
- Any other information you want to share with a couple before you meet
- Call to Action:
- Finish your video with a reminder to connect with you and how they can best do that

Recording Logistics.
Next let’s figure out how you’re going to record! There are a couple steps you can take to ensure you get the best quality video for your Planner Portfolio. Here are a few suggestions to take into consideration when recording:
- Pick what you’re recording with.
- Any camera will do, but if you’re using your phone, we recommend recording horizontally for the best online video viewing experience.
- Most cameras and phones have decent microphones on their own, but if you’re using any additional equipment to improve the quality of your audio, just give it a few tests to ensure it’s recording perfectly.
- Pick the best location.
- Find a background that is simple and has minimal distractions.
- Good lighting is essential for creating a visually appealing video – record in the day time or use artificial lighting.
- Audio is just as important as lighting, make sure you’re in a quiet location so the couple only hears your voice.
- Find the right angle.
- We recommend using a tripod or placing your recording device on a solid surface so there is no shaking. (This is our favorite phone tripod: https://a.co/d/4QynovI)
- Test out what the best angle and height is for your video. We recommend straight on and far enough away from your face so that you’re perfectly framed in the center.

Recording Tips.
It’s time to get recording – Grab a sip of water, take a deep breath, and get ready to share who you are!
Here are some things to take into consideration when you’re speaking to the camera:
- Look at the camera, not at yourself. If you’re using a phone, it can be easy to glare at your own face, but when you look directly into the lens, it opens your eyes and makes the viewer really feel like you’re speaking to them.
- Talk clearly and articulate your words. It’s a good idea to do a few different recordings to see what sounded the best.
- Show your personality! Move your hands, have fun with the tone of your voice, smile and be expressive – pretend you’re actually talking to a potential client on the other side of your phone.
- Try to be concise. This is a simple introduction, so try to keep it under a minute or two!
And remember, it’s okay to make mistakes while recording. Embrace it as part of the learning process and don’t be afraid to start over if needed. Remember, authenticity is more important than perfection.
Let’s get into some editing tips.
- Crop out the “dead air”
- No one really wants to hear you breathe before you start your sentence LOL! Crop it out! Have your video start right when you’re speaking. Same thing for the ending – crop it as you finish talking so we don’t have to watch you awkwardly turn off the camera.
- If you have a hard time speaking your script in one stretch, use editing apps to crop your sentences together. We love using CapCut – it’s free! And there are hundreds of tutorials out there on how to use it.
- Add captions
- For greater accessibility and performance of your video, you may consider adding closed captions to your video.
- Getting fancy
- Couples are coming to our site for authentic introduction videos, so there is no pressure to add anything extra on top of your video – but if you want to add the bells and whistles, by all means, go nuts. This is your video that represents your business, so make it how you’d like!
